We appear in person and remotely to defend clients accused of impaired driving offences throughout all of Ontario, Canada. You do not need to travel to retain us. Our clients do not need to attend court in person or remotely (Zoom) for most court appearances.
In order to anticipate and successfully resolve potential problems with your case, it is important that your lawyer have substantial case experience at the specific courthouse location your matter is being heard at.
How long will this process take?
Most cases take a few months to a year to resolve. This will largely depend on whether the accused pleads not guilty and fights the charges in court at trial or whether they decide to resolve their case (make a deal). In Ontario, sometimes an accused will be have the opportunity to regain the ability to drive (Stream A or B) and avoid a year long driving prohibition.
Will a lawyer or paralegal handle my case?
You will be represented only by a Practising Lawyer certified by the Law Society of Ontario, not a paralegal. It should be noted that Paralegals are not licenced to represent individuals charged with impaired driving offences in Ontario.Having a lawyer represent you ensures you are represented with the highest level of legal expertise. What if I have prior DUI charges?
Those with prior DUI convictions face harsher (jail) sentences if found guilty via mandatory minimum sentences. Case outcomes and sentences can vary tremendously especially if you have been found guilty in the past.What will happen if I call you?
